On 6 September, the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) organized a three-day training program in Dhusamareeb, Galmadug for all its FMS field office staff around the country.
The purpose of the training was to build the capacity of NIEC’s electoral field staff to equip them with the knowledge and skills to enable them understand the requirements for the registration of political parties. The training was provided by the NIEC’s Office of the Political Party Registrar.
The workshop focused on the rules and regulations that have to be applied to enable political parties achieve official registration. The House of the People recently finalised the Amendments to the Political Parties Law which is now awaiting the signature of the President.
The Deputy President of Galmudug and Speaker of the Parliament, Hon. Mohamed Nur Ga’al and the NIEC Chairperson Halima Ismail jointly opened the workshop in Samareeb.
Mr. Mohamed Nur Ga’al called on the NIEC to “diligently work for all Somalis to improve the country’s democratization process by conducting free and fair elections”.
