NIEC met with political parties

Representatives of more than seventy members of temporary registered political parties has participated a meeting sharing information and exchange of views which held on 13th of July in Mogadishu.
Opening remarks by chairperson of the NIEC at meeting was constructive and called to political parties to work hard to become official political parties
Ms. Halima Ismail asserted that the NIEC had made significant strides towards the finalization of the Political Parties amendment law and other election laws.
“As I have mentioned many different occasions we are technical committee and we’re not law makers” said Madam Halima.
she also called on the political parties to be united as the country gears up to hold a universal suffrage election of one person one vote to avoid the scenario of clan based selection and indicated that the commission will consider their views and suggestions.
Political party registrar, Mr. Mohamed Omar Ahmed Haydara also shared with the political parties on the progress made by the office of Political Party Registration.
This meeting has coordinated by the National Independent Commission and it’s the first such meeting being held since the pandemic corona virus has devastated the world wide.
