On the 4th of January, NIEC Office of the registrar of Political parties awarded temporary certificates of registration to seven Political parties at a ceremony held at the NIEC main offices. The seven newly registered Political parties are: The Coalition, Justice and equality party, National Salvation party, Justice and reconstruction party of Somalia, National Concertation party, Horseed party, Maan Deeq Unity party and Security and democracy development party
The registrar of Political parties Mr. Mohamed Omar Haydara who spoke at the event welcomed all the newly registered party officials and underscored the need for the new parties to fulfill the stipulated requirements so as to be fully registered.
Mr. Haydara outlined the requirements for the parties to comply with so as to be fully registered. He also called on the newly registered parties to work within the confines of the law.
Officials of the newly registered Political parties who spoke at the event thanked the electoral commission for their support during the registration period.
The Chair of the newly registered National Concertation party, whilst speaking at the ceremony stated that they were pleased to join the list of the registered parties and they’ll be working towards ensuring the Country moves from the divisive, clan-based politics to a democratic Political parties’ system.
The chairman of Horseed, who was participating in the ceremony said; “First, I would like to thank the NIEC for the clarity they have worked for us while we were in the process, and secondly, we have to join our hands together with to form a nation that we could feel security and stability in the future.
The commissioner of NIEC Mr. Abdirahman Osman Dirir, has urged the members of the political parties which has received their provisional certificates to be continued their efforts of the political engagements and comply with the law of the political parties. It is noteworthy that the NIEC has been issued 70 Provisional Certificates since this office has established.
