The second day of the training workshop was facilitated by Ms. Tomsie Dlamini, IESG Capacity building specialist. It largely focused on the electoral cycle.
Ms. Tomsie stated that the electoral cycle spans a broad spectrum and forms an integral component in the preparation for the elections.
She mentioned that the cycle started when the electoral commission came into being, followed by the adoption of the electoral law, identifying VR centres, carry out voter and civic education, registration of political parties, conduct voter registration, polling/voting, counting/tallying, announcing the results and finally evaluating the conduct of the elections.
Other key note speakers were NIEC secretary general Mr. Abdirizak Bashir, Director of Voter registration and operations Mr. Ismail Yasin.
The training workshop, scheduled to end on the 14th July, brings together all NIEC national and regional staffs.
