The National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC), in collaboration with the African Union, has organised information sharing about experiential security authentication elections held in Kampala, Uganda.
This meeting is being held by experts in the election violence of conflict recovering countries or there are extremist threats such as Somalia, Afghanistan, Libya, and other countries. The meeting was attended by heads and officials responsible for the country security.
Chairperson of the National Electoral Commission Mrs Halima Ismail Ibrahim who spoke at the meeting highlighted the importance of this meeting which will run for four days and is expected to come up with recommendations that will lead to the unification of the powers and the forces we have in order to secure the 2020 elections.
NIEC chairperson, Mrs Halima, called on the national leaders and Somali community to co-operate with the Committee on the achievement of the Somali national aspirations to ever leave the clans sharing scheme and pass to open competition based on the party system.
