NIEC delivered speech to Parliament on its four months accomplishments and challenges

Mogadishu, 17th April, 2019. The National Independent Electoral Commission took part in a parliamentary hearing which focused on the state of 2020 election preparedness.
The electoral body is mandated by law, under section 23 of NIEC act to deliver a quarterly report to parliament.
The session was meant to take stock of what has been achieved by the electoral body, what is yet to be achieved and what challenges and constraints lies ahead.
In a speech she delivered to parliament, NIEC chair Ms. Halima Ismail indicated the commission’s accomplishments in the last quarter and emphasized on the need to engage together so that the tough work that lies ahead can be done.
The parliamentarians also asked the chair questions regarding the commission’s state of 2020 election preparations.
