Four more political parties were issued with temporary certificates of registration at a ceremony held at the electoral body’s registrar of political parties’ offices on 01/04. The four parties are:
1. Kulan Party (KP)
2. National Progressive party (NPP)
3. Somali good governance party (SGGP)
4. Somali Unity party (SUP)
The ceremony was presided over by the acting registrar of political parties Mr. Mohamed Hassan Sandheere, two Commissioners Mr. Mohamed Hasan Taani and Eng. Mohamed Ahmed Nur.
Speaking at the Occasion, the acting registrar of political parties emphasized on the need of political parties playing their part and adhere to the laid down procedures as the country gears to hold a one person one vote elections.
Eng. Mohamed Ahmed Nur called upon the political parties to ensure active participation of the citizenry in the democratic process.
Those who graced the occasion include civil society organizations, members of political parties who are already registered and the media fraternity.
Members of the political parties who spoke at the event commended the commission for its integrity and professionalism throughout the registration process.
The office of political party’s registration has so far registered forty-three political parties as the country gears to hold a one person one vote elections by 2020.
