The National Independent Electoral Commission met in Baidoa.

20th January 2019, with the newly elected South west state president Abdi Aziz Hassan Lafta gareen.
A delegation from the National Independent Electoral Commission led by chair Halima Ismail Ibrahim held discussions with Mr. Laftagareen on their purpose of visit and the role the commission is playing towards their mandate of achieving universal suffrage elections in Somalia by 2020.
The president thanked the delegation for their visit and welcomed the commission decision to set up an office in Baidoa, the South West State capital.
The National Independent Electoral Commission is on a visit to Baidoa to set up a regional office, sensitization workshop on electoral processes and fill up two MP vacant elective posts.
