NIEC Joint Workshop with Potential partners for Strategic Plan Implementation at Mogadishu -Somalia
On 9th Dec. 2018, National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) conducted joint workshop with Potential partners on modalities for forging effective Partnerships for implementing the NIEC strategic Plan from 9th to 12th December 2018 in Mogadishu, Somalia.
This workshop has been participated by the electoral stakeholders as CSOs from Somalia states and development partners. The participants will undergo 4 days workshop to harness their capacities and resources for election program implementation. NIEC will have Partnership agreement with all electoral stakeholders for engagement. The workshop will Define working relationship and responsibilities for partners in election process with the following objectives:
1- To forge collaborative Partnerships between NIEC and Key Stakeholders to the electoral process.
2- To emerge with joint work plans by validating the activities in the strategic plan under each component.
3- To obtain commitment for Implementation and accountability from Partners.

The workshop has been officially opened by member of the Commission, Mr. Hussein Abdi Aden who emphasised the role of the commission being informing the public on Voter education in election process across Somalia. Also, the commissioner mentioned the hope of creating understanding and fruitful effort of working relationship with relevant stakeholders.
Also, during the opening session, NIEC Adviser and Former Chairman of IEBC of Kenya Mr. Ahmed Issack, mentioned that an EMB must be independent and should not associate with Corruption. Mr. Ahmed encouraged CSOs and Development partners with NIEC and should be accountable to the public.
