A delegation from Somalia’s Independent Electoral Commission

  that were in Galmudug for the past week has visited Abudwak town in Galgadud region. The delegation, consisting of members of the National Electoral Commission and Employees, was led by the deputy chairperson Mr, SaydAli Sheikh Mohamed. The purpose of this trip was to have discussion with the people of Abudwak about the planned 2020 elections.
The delegation was received by the city administration and members of the cabinet of the Galmudug state.
During their visit in Abudwak, the delegation had consultation meetings with the community groups such as women and youth, traditional elders and religious leaders. The delegation also met with the politicians, city administrators, ministers in Galmudug cabinet and members of parliament.
The people of Abudwak welcomed the delegation delectably and participated actively in the consultation meetings the committee held in Abudwak.
The consultative meetings that the commission held in Abudwak were officially closed by the speaker of the parliament of Galmudug as well as the Vice president of Galmudug state. The two officials spoke of their satisfaction with the commission’s effort to consult with the Somali people about the planned 2020 elections. They encouraged the commission to continue the good work they are doing for the country. With the support of the somali people, I am sure you will succeed said the vice president. The vice president also promised that Galmudug will cooperate with the electoral commission.
Finally, the deputy chairperson of NIEC Mr. SaydAli Sheikh Mohamed handed in the Vice President and the Parliament Speaker with copies of the commission’s strategic plan and the political party law.
