The National Independent Electoral Commission held a meeting with the Ambassador of Kenya to Somalia.

The Chairperson of the commission, Mrs. Halima Ismael Ibrahim, the Deputy Chair Mr. Sayed Ali sh.Mohamed, the General Secretary of the Commission Mr. Dahir Jibril attended the meeting on behalf of the Commission, while HE.AMB.Lucas K.Tumbo attended the meeting on behalf of the Kenyan Embassy in Somalia.
Several matters were addressed in the meeting, but issues given specific priority by the two sides included; increased collaboration between the parties, the request from the Commission for the Kenyan Embassy to help facilitate the travel of members of the Commission between the two countries.
Chairperson Halima welcomed the cooperation of the two parties and emphasized on the mutual sharing of information and experience.
Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia HE.AMB.Lucas K. Tumbo pledged to assist and cooperate with the Commission in any way possible.
The Kenyan Embassy agreed to facilitate the travel of the members of the Commission between their respective countries. The Kenyan Embassy also agreed to arrange a capacity building seminar in Kenya for the Commission’s Secretary General to benefit from the knowledge and experience about elections from the Kenyan National Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Finally, Chairperson Halima thanked the Ambassador, the Kenyan government and public for taking a lion’s share in the rebuilding and peacekeeping of the Somali government and nation.
