National Independent Electoral Commission Presented its Quarterly Report to the National Federal Parliament

The National Independent Electoral Commission submitted their quarterly report to the Federal Parliament of Somalia, the report focused mainly on the achievement of the Commission for the past four months, their vision and challenges ahead.

 

Mrs. Halima Ismaail Ibrahim presented the report to the House of the People on behalf of the Commission. 

The Chairperson thanked and congratulated the Members of parliament for the tremendous work that they have done for the Somali people during their term and the great role they played in establishing independent commissions such as the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC).

Mrs. Halima emphasized on the importance of the role of the NIEC will play in the rebuilding and democratization of the Somalia.

 Mrs. Halima touched on the achievements of the commission in the past four months which included; preparing the 2017 action plan for the commission, capacity building training for the commission, establishing international cooperation, creating electoral lexicon and giving suggestions when required. 

Chairperson Halima bid goodbye to the outgoing Members of Parliament and staff on behalf of the commission and thanked them for their great cooperation with the commission. The Chairperson thanked in particular the Speaker of the House Hon. Mohamed sh.Osman Jawari, Deputy Hon.Jeylani Nur Ikar and Hon.Mahad Abdale Awad for their remarkable guidance and support.
