Deputy Chair Mr. Sayed Ali Sheikh Mohammed, Secretary General Dr. DahirMirrehJibreel and Director of Electoral Operations Mr. Ismail Yasin Mohamed participated The Executive Workshop of Electoral Commissioners in south Africa.

The programme was organized by the institute of African Renaissance Studies of University of South Africa (UNISA) supported by USAID. The programme was invited electoral management bodies in numerous African countries such as Kenya. Ethiopia, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Burundi, Botswana, Ghana, Uganda, Malawi and DRC and more.
The objective of the Workshop of Electoral Commissioners is to raise awareness of the challenges, related to the efforts by the AU and its sub-regional bodies, towards consolidating democracy through elections on the continent.
Secondly, the executive workshop seeks to draw on the comparative experience of the audience as a part of capacity building.
Finally, the executive workshop was to provide conceptual buy- in for countries to increase their pool candidates who have undergone Management of Democratic Elections in Africa training.

On the other hand, the deputy Chair of NIEC Mr. Sayed Ali Sh. Mohamed together with the Secretary General Dr. DahirMirehJibreel had a meeting with Deputy chair of IEC of south Africa,
The NIEC deputy chair delivered to south African Independent Electoral Commission warm greeting on behalf of National Independent Electoral Commission of Somalia.
The both sides had some discussions about the increasing collaborations and relations between the two EMBs and the way forward and agreed to create technical committees that drafts partnership agreement in the nearest coming future.
