Somalia’s National Independent Electoral Commission launched its official website  on 27th July at its offices in Mogadishu.

The website explains the organization’s mandate to prepare for future one-person one-vote elections and features the NIEC’s main activities to inform both national and international audiences.
“The National Independent Electoral Commission was created one year ago,” said Halima Ibrahim, Chairperson of the NIEC.
”Since then, members of the Commission have been building a foundation and gaining knowledge about the complex activities and issues that are involved in electoral preparations.
In addition to information about the various activities undertaken, the website also includes the NIEC’s Code of Conduct and individual bios of the Commissioners.   
“We are moving forward in terms of developing our capacities to one day manage universal polls in Somalia,” said Ibrahim.
