Electoral body’s chair observes conduct of Nigeria’s parliamentary and presidential elections

The National Independent Electoral Commission chair Halima Ismail, on Saturday, took part in Nigeria elections observation together with a delegation from the AU.
The delegation is on an observatory mission of the conduct of the Nigerian elections.
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country went to the polls Saturday for presidential and parliamentary elections.
The Somalia’s electoral body NIEC expects to learn a lot from the conduct of the Nigerian elections as they prepare to hold a similar elections in the country in 2020.
The NIEC delegation in the Observatory mission took note of Nigeria’s elections preparedness through voter registration, VE curriculum, Electoral security management and the engagement with stakeholders in the elections. This forms the basis for the country’s elections preparations by 2020.
The AU election observation mission is expected to issue a preliminary report on the conduct of the elections.
